Grounding rebar in foundations

Grounding rebar in foundations

Grounding rebar in foundations

(OP)
We are installing a new pre-fab electrical building on a new foundation.  The engineering firm puts on the drawing to bond the rebar to the grounding system.  Does the rebar have to be bonded in any certain way?

RE: Grounding rebar in foundations

There are UL-approved connectors for this application.  The best is to use exothermic weld (Cadweld), but there are approved compression fittings as well.  Burndy makes a wide range of compression fittings for direct-buried grounding applications.  Cadweld and/or Burndy will be able to help you.
