Code stamp contract

Code stamp contract

Code stamp contract

(OP)
Say a company designs and would buid a pressure vessel for which the customer requires a code stamp, but the manufacturer does not have a stamp.  Is it possible to contract with someone to do the code work and apply the stamp?

RE: Code stamp contract

yes another manufacturer can build and apply stamp, as long as contractually your customer is OK with it.

whoever manufactures it, must apply stamp.

do not ever attemp to sub-contract code fabrication without the client/user know about it.

RE: Code stamp contract

The owner of the stamp is assuming liability for the vessel being manufactured.  This could present some sticky situations.

I would find a manufacturer that has a code stamp, and be done with it. I absolutely see no benefit to having a hand-off (non-code stamp manufacturer subcontracting code work) in this situation.

RE: Code stamp contract

Note that the one company can't build the vessel while having the other company just come in and bless it or something- the one with the stamp does the building, doesn't just supervise or inspect or whatever.
