ASME B16.47 Series A/B Flanges

ASME B16.47 Series A/B Flanges

(OP)
Hi All,
Can someone let me know how do we select on which ASME B 16.47 flange to use - Series A or Series B?

Client's specs do not address this and they have asked us to decide.

RE: ASME B16.47 Series A/B Flanges

that is a "no correct answer" questions.

It mainly depends on what the user wants.

in US most use a series B flange because it closely resembles B15.5 flange.

in other parts of world they like A flange because it has a greater quantity of smaller bolts.

Most users like to stay with one of the other in their operations for spare gaskets not getting confused.

vesselfab is correct - its up to your client.

Particularily if your client is providing a mating flange, both need to be the same series.

Mike
