How do you keep a spline symmetric about a center line?

How do you keep a spline symmetric about a center line?

How do you keep a spline symmetric about a center line?

Hello all.

How do you keep a spline symmetric about a center line once you adjust the handles?
Is fully dimensioning the spline handles the only way (both magnitude and angle)?  I do not want to fully dimension them, that looses the ability to adjust them freely.

Thanks all in advance.

Thanks,

Rip

It's either fully define the location of the spline or allow it to float.  You can't have your cake and eat it to....bdaycandle

RE: How do you keep a spline symmetric about a center line?

Run a centerline (construction line) across your prime centerline connecting the mirrored points of the spline.  Give the centerlines (construction lines) midpoint relationships to your primary centerline.  This won't control tweaks you make to your spline point tangency, only the position of each point (x, y).

Meanwhile, in most cases of this sort I model half of what I'm doing and mirror the whole body later--keeps this sort of thing at a minimum for a much cleaner model.

Reason trumps all.  And awe transcends reason.

RE: How do you keep a spline symmetric about a center line?

Can you not apply the constraining dimensions, but change them to driven when a change is required. Doing this in combination with Theo's suggestion would give you total but easy control.

cheers
