Hi gurus
    Anyone tried running sw thru wine in linux?
I have ubuntu 7.04 running off my old laptop hardrive thru usb port at start up and thought for curiosities sake i was wondering wheather i could install my sw 2006 on that drive.

Oh I know sw is not a linux prog and also sw is not likely to be ported over which is a shame
   This is purely for curiosity

Good luck.  I've tried running other big Windows apps. under WINE, with no success.

I'd like to see the Linux community take a whole-hearted effort in modifying the kernel to easily install and run Windows apps, w/o having to monkey with WINE.

   It takes a lot of work to get WINE working for big applications.  You have to locate and install a lot of DLLs.

   A graphically intense program like SolidWorks has got to be the worst thing you can run on anything other than a correctly configured version of the intended operating system.  

   I have tried running the executable Edrawings under Linux.  It did not work
