Applying Shell pressure in Ansys

Applying Shell pressure in Ansys

Applying Shell pressure in Ansys

(OP)
Hi all,
I have looked for any existing help files on the subject but no luck.
This may seem straightforward, but I am trying to apply a normal pressure on a plate. When I plot the symbols, it shows pressures applied on the edges of the plate (in plane). I've meshed the area with shell63 elements and changes in Keyopts do not give me the required direction.
Once again this is probably straightforward, but I cant figure it out. Thanks in advance.

RE: Applying Shell pressure in Ansys

Hello,

this is the way Ansys marks the pressures: on the edges of elements. In the solution phase, Ansys will compute the  normals to the elements faces and the area of the element faces. So from what you are describing, there is nothing abnormal  with your model.

Regards,
Alex

RE: Applying Shell pressure in Ansys

Hi,
As Alex said, it's just the mark of pressure. But you really want to see the pressure applied on element, you can change the symbol of pressure, you can use '/PSF' command to chang the symbol to arrows, which makes it easy to check if the direction of pressure is right. Because when shell element type is used, there might be different element coordinates on different areas.

Thx guys, that worked....I guess I was worried about nothing. My results do look OK.
