Mechanical Properties of nuts

Mechanical Properties of nuts

Mechanical Properties of nuts

(OP)
Hello,
I have many Material Certificates concerning nuts and I can not find any informations about Tensile Strenght, Yield Strenght and Elongation. Same thing in the different suppliers documentation.
I talk about nuts and not Bolts or Stud-Bolts.

Do the manufacturer make obligatory these tests when he makes the nuts ?
Is there a norm concerning these tests (ASME code) ?

For your informations, if you have one day a project in Russia (chemicals), all the nuts must have chrome into their composition and informations mentionned above must be provided on a specific passport for approval by the Russian Legislation (Rostechnadzor).

Cordially
Laurent

RE: Mechanical Properties of nuts

The standard mechanical property that is tested and reported for nuts is the Proof Strength.  You can read about this in ISO 898-2 or ASTM A 563.
