Creating Profiles in Landesktop 06 and Civil 3d

Looking to create Profiles using Surveyed Pipeline shots rather than doing this manually. I can create them using Terrain Model Explorer but that was using contours rather than taking points and having autocad just generate the profile based off the points you select

RE: Creating Profiles in Landesktop 06 and Civil 3d

Create a surface from the surveyed points only, use that surface to create the profile.

That's what I'm trying to Find Out After I create a Sureface from Terrain Model Explorer, where do I go from there?

RE: Creating Profiles in Landesktop 06 and Civil 3d

I have not used the pipe networks module of C3D yet, but can help you with drawing a profile.

1) Draw a polyline on your desired alignment
2) Alignments --> Create from Layout
3) Snap to your polyline to create your alignment
4) Profiles --> Create from Surface
5) Select your alignment
6) Create a Profile View to house your profile
7) Go back and edit all your styles so that it looks how you want it to look.

I recommend Zimmerman's "Harnessing Autodesk Civil 3D 2007" and CadapultCivil group on Yahoo! Groups; hey have some great white papers. http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/cadapult_civil/?yguid=273821324
