Design Stress of LEAD (Pb)

(OP)
Hi guys,
Can anyone tell me the design stress of Lead please?

I have been tasked to design a radiation flap and I intend to make the inner layer from a Lead plate.  I have found the density of Lead to work out the mass now I need to find out the Design Stress of Lead I am working at Ambient temp and atmospheric pressure.  Thanks guys!

RE: Design Stress of LEAD (Pb)

It depends on the alloy and processing.  Will it be cast to shape?  Fabricated from rolled sheet?  The differences are huge, so you need to answer these questions to get a good answer.

By the way, lead can have a huge creep rate, so you will need to identify short-term stresses and long-term stresses.

Regards,

Cory
