I searched for the tool, but it don't exist anymore. Sorry. It was a tool from an Austrian guy. I will reply, if I find the tool...

There is a setting to enable or disable grips within blocks.  I believe it is called gripblock.  This may not really help you.  You can also use AutoCAD's QuickSelect utility.  Tools pulldown / Quick Select.  Otherwise LISP or VBA is needed.
