Subtracting Bodies From Each Other

Subtracting Bodies From Each Other

Subtracting Bodies From Each Other

(OP)
I can't seem to find COMBINE in Assembly
mode, so I can subtract one body from
another. Where is it hidden? OR do I
need to use a different command in
assembly mode?

Thanks....

RE: Subtracting Bodies From Each Other

If in an assembly, use the Cavity feature.

(Should me, too.  That was weird--I edited and it posted twice. [Star Wars geek, yeah, yeah, yeah, couldn't resist.])

RE: Subtracting Bodies From Each Other

In assemblies, if you want to combine 2 parts, use Join.  Check-out "joined parts" in SW help topics.  Combine is only used in the part environment.

Thanks guys.....mucho appreciate it....

Looks like JOIN unites 2 parts. I'm looking
to subtract 2 parts and use the result (unless
I misunderstand it - which could be - sorry. I'm
under the schedule gun for now, so I'll read more
up on it later.
It looks like cavity works, just a few more steps
to go through....

Thanks again everyone....

RE: Subtracting Bodies From Each Other

You can't combine parts (Add, Subtract, or Combine) at the assembly level... that feature is only for parts only. Please use either Cavity (which will subtract a body from another body) or Join to join to parts as one.

If you need to subtract one from the other you would be better off inserting a part into a part and then using the Combine command.
