AutoCAD LT 2008 newbie Copy Paste OLE object

AutoCAD LT 2008 newbie Copy Paste OLE object

(OP)
First off, I primarily use SolidWorks 2007 Professional, but do use AutoCAD as a secondary program almost on a daily basis. So I am sorry if this is a null point of has been covered already.

Our company has recently “upgraded” from AutoCAD 2000 to AutoCAD LT 2008. As I am getting settled in, I have noticed that if I copy/paste anything (mainly simple lines and/or dimensions) from 2008LT into 2000 or SolidWorks, it comes up as an OLE object, which just ain’t cool!!

Is there anyway to overcome this feature, and go back to the ‘good ol days’ of simple copy/paste, or am I stuck converting everything back to a 2000 dwg, re-opening it in 2000 & doing it that way???

maybe i am phrasing this incorrectly...

Is there a way to select a combination of lines and arcs in ACAD 2008LT & then paste them directly into another graphix program (i.e. ACAD2000 or SolidWorks)?

Whenever i try pasting into another program it comes up as an (OLE) image and not the raw lines & arcs data that i had copied

your replies would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

That fix is close to what I am looking for & I have seen that before. But the problem I am experiencing, is transferring the data from AutoCAD to different program with the simple copy/paste function.

I beleive that fix only allows you to copy/paste within acad after saving back to acad2000

RE: AutoCAD LT 2008 newbie Copy Paste OLE object

Hey Cadflyer,
did you ever figure this out?
I too just started using acad 2008 and can no longer
just paste part of a cad drawing into solidworks like I used to be able to do.

I really need this to work..
Can you or anyone offer any help?

I simply want to edit, copy from autocad and
past into my sketch in solidworks.
It paste it as an ole object or something that I cant use
to modify etc.

thanks
jbreland
