New user to Pro-Engineer.  Looking for instructions on how to use the Surface: tangent feature.  Looking to blend a surface from an edge(circular profile) to the tangent of a surface.

RE: Advanced Surface: Blend Tangent to Surface

Hey Jason,

Welcome to the Eng-Tips and Pro/Engineer forums. I was once new to UG and this forum helped me out a great deal. I know Pro/E quite well and would love to help you out.

I have created a trailfile.txt file for you that will walk you through the steps to get what I think you are describing. If you don't know what trailfiles are, they are a record of all the mouse clicks movements and actions you perform while in Pro/E and can be used quite efficiently if you have the following options set in your config.pro file. This file controls different settings in Pro/E like view orientation the annoying Beep and other options that can be set from Tools > Environment. By putting these settings in a config file you don't have to change the Environment every time you open Pro/E

Right click your Pro/E shortcut and put a file in that directory called config.pro edit it from Notepad or while in Pro/E goto Tools > Options and enter the config option and value separated by a space.
You can organize this file better in Note pad if you put a comment symbol !

!---------------
!! Environment Settings
bell yes/no
datum_point_symbol cross*,dot,circle,triangle,square
!! Trail Settings
set_trail_single_step yes/no

The stars * indicate what the default options are.
!---------------

Save this file in notepad or by hitting save as in the options dialog and accepting or entering config.pro

Please respond back or email me when you are online by going to my Profile and copying my address which I will list temporarily until you send me an email.
I will use the # sign in my email to replace the @ to prevent spam abuse.

Once I send you the trail file you should be able to select
Tools > Play Trail/Training file and then step thru the trail command by command by tapping the Step button.

Read the following if your trailfile crashes pro/e.

The following option helps if you want to use trails a lot, it helps prevent Pro/E from crashing during some trailfile replays.

This option is Set from Computer Properties.
Right Click My Computer
Select Properties
Select the Advanced Tab
Click the Environment Variables Button
Hit the Top New Button under User Variables
and enter the following
Variable name:  CONTINUE_FROM_OOS
Variable Value: 1
Hit OK and you should see something like the picture below

Windows Environment Variable
CONTINUE_FROM_OOS=1

Hopefully your administrator has the proper Windows options already set but if you are using a student version. Just follow my instructions.

Pro/E should have a Beer Me Button.

Hope you can read through this slowly and the trail file runs smoothly.

Jason,

To view my profile just click on my user name in either post.
To edit yours just click on the Personal Profile at the Top left of the page.

It's usually suggested not to post your email publicly in the Forum but I see no problems with temporarily adding it to Your Personal Profile which is what I chose to do.

or if you are a member of MCADcentral  ProE you can send me a Personal Message to me by using my username "mjcole_ptc."

Thanks for replying to my question.  After digging through the commands within Pro-E.  I have been able to figure out how to use  the surface feature.
