Decal Position Changing in Model to Drawing.

Decal Position Changing in Model to Drawing.

Decal Position Changing in Model to Drawing.

(OP)
Good morning, I have a model with a decal on it and the text on the decal is parallel with the bacl of teh part's should in the model.  When I import it into a drawing and change the display style to shaded with edges, to make the decal visible, the decal has shifted 180 degrees and now the text is parallel to the front shouolder instead of the rear shoulder.  Can anyone tell me what is causing this is it will stop.  There are 3 dozen or so of these and it is happening to most , if not all of them.  Thank you in advance for any assistance on this problem.

RE: Decal Position Changing in Model to Drawing.

Which SW version and SP?

Does this happen on other PCs?

Does it happen consistently with the same decals on different parts or different decals on the same parts?

How are you creating the decals?

cheers

Does it happen with the standard SW supplied Decals?

cheers

What happens if you intentionally misalign the decal in the part?

thank you for the responses.  We just tried it on another PC and yes it did and this is the standard decal from Photoworks.  I broought in a jpeg and in mapping set it to label and fit width and fir hieght and revolved it 90 degrees then moved it on the red arrow .050.  that was it.  Nothing really very fancy.  I feel like I am in the Twlight Zone right now.

RE: Decal Position Changing in Model to Drawing.

are you mapping the decal to a face or a body? Its sounds like you are mapping it to a body, which makes it visible on both sides, and then you are inserting the wrong orientation into the drawing, which gives you the 180 inverse.

Thanks rfus.  Yes I am mapping to the body.  The label is correctly oriented in the model, every time it is opened. This only happens in the drawing and the printing of the drawing.  I have even destroyed one or two of the screwed up ones and created the drawing and a copple have been alright and a couple have been the same.

Map it to the face, not the body.

thanks again for the response.  I just open one up and check it out and it is map to a selected face., so tha tis not it and I did just playing with it some more, but I am out of ideas.  I even ran a virus scan and defraged the drive and rebooted in a vain effort to get this straightened out, but to no avail.

RE: Decal Position Changing in Model to Drawing.

Submit it to your VAR as a possible bug.

cheers

Thanks, CorBlimeyLimey, it was done yesterday.  No real help there.
