DWG Editor - Scaling

DWG Editor - Scaling

DWG Editor - Scaling

(OP)
First off, I would like to say that I am new to these forums and don't exactly know if this is the most correct place to post this thread.

I know how to scale in almost every other program, but I am having trouble scaling my project in DWG Editor.  This is part of SW which I am very knowledgeable in but I can't get it.  The situation is that I am actually doing a 2-D floor plan of our plant and going to make two prints.  One of these prints will be one of our departments on a D size paper.  The rest will be of the machines that will be going in the area, but i need them to be scaled the same as the D size paper.  I have been messing around for a day or two now trying to get it and I can't seem to get it right.  Is there anyway that it can be like AutoCAD and you can bring up a viewport toolbar and just change it like that or what is the best way of going about this.
Thanks for any help.

Also, I would like to state I have gone through the help menu.  This hasn't really helped me though. It tells me to scale through the zoom command, but no matter how many different formats I try the scale factor it keeps saying error.  It tells me to put it in <Scale (nX/nXP)>. I've tried everything that I know and it hasn't worked out.  I don't know if you are supposed to be in model/paper space or if there is some other setting that I don't have set right or not.

RE: DWG Editor - Scaling

There is a Scale command where you enter the scale factor or pick an existing object and redefine a new length (for example) and the rest of the drawing will scale accordingly.

tliepke,

My question to your question is what have you tried so far?  All of us old ACADer's would go straight to the scale command.  Is this command not working for what you are doing?

Im not sure if I was totally clear. What my ultimate goal would be for me would be to do this and get two drawings or the same file the same exact scale in a layout on two different size papers. So I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to get a viewport toolbar like in AutoCAD but in DWG Editor so I can set it up like that.

But I havent used the straight up scale command because I didnt want to change the drawing. I only want it to be resized in the layout so I can keep the drawing true to size.  I've done what DWG help files said and used the zoom command using a scale factor.  But that makes it so a 1:1 scale on a D size paper will take up the whole paper and a 1:1 scale on a letter size paper will take up the whole thing. Im not sure if I am looking at it wrong or if I am not doing something right.

RE: DWG Editor - Scaling

Ok, that is more clear.

These steps didn't work?

Quote:

To change the scale of a floating viewport relative to paper space
1. Switch to model space with floating viewports.
2. Click a floating viewport to make it current.
3. Choose View > Zoom > Zoom.
4. Type the zoom scale factor relative to paper space, and then press Enter.

Yes that does resize the drawing, but the scale will be different depending on the size of paper you are using. Because it says put in the scale factor relative to paper space, so if I do this for D size it wont technically be the same on a letter size even if I use the same scale factor. I'm not sure if there is some way to figure out two different scale factors that make the drawings the same scaled size on two different types of paper or if you need to use a different method. But what I would like to use is just a common scale like in AutoCAD where you put 1:12 in two different size papers but all the sizes of the drawings will actually be the same.
