What are the advantages and disadvantages of wire race bearings and who are some of the manufactures?

I ran across this site sometime ago.

I was in on some discussions with Rotek where using this type bearing was discussed. I don't know if they purchased any from Rotek. We bought conventional slew bearings from them.

Rotek Inc. and Kaydon make these.

Aside from the internal stainless steel components, the surrounding material is often aluminum, resulting in a lightweight overall component.

They are made with either balls or rollers depending on the application.
