DIN 17230 equivalent?

DIN 17230 equivalent?

DIN 17230 equivalent?

(OP)
Hi,

We are quoting a project that requires pins manufactured from DIN 17230 rolling bearing steel.  I see that rolling bearing steel is usually 100Cr6, but if the customer specifies DIN 17230 only, would it be considered the exact equivalent?  I am primarily interested in chemical composition and hardness.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Kim

RE: DIN 17230 equivalent?

DIN 17230 was a standard for bearing steels that was replaced by DIN EN ISO 683-17.  Grade 100 Cr 6 was only one of many grades that appeared in DIN 17230.  The proper designation of this grade is now 100Cr6 (1.3505) according to DIN EN ISO 683-17.
