Wastwater system design

Wastwater system design

Wastwater system design

(OP)
I have an existing project  of combined sewer, with part of the network discharging into water course and the other carrying waste water to a treatment plant. The project is to be up-graded as to accommodate new lay-outs and to connect part of the network discharging into water course to the main as to convey all the waste water to the treatment plant- thus discontinuing with the practice of discharging into the water course. As to accommodate the existing pipe network and not to lay additional pipe line (that would have been necessary as to accommodate the increase in discharge reaching the existing pipe line) I decided to include pumps as to increase the flow through the pipe line, thus the discharge. I am using the soft ware- “stormnet” to model the flow as to design the network, the pump etc. Please advise me on whether I am following the right approach or otherwise. I tried to run the analysis but the programme kept sending back the error message:
“Error Report for File Trialdrove
Too few items at line 213:
[HYDROGRAPH]
UH-1”,  despite the fact that I defined 12 sets of the relevant data required. I'm rather green to this aspect of civil engineering but I have to perform as to impress my prospective employers and to satisfy myself, so any nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.(I could have sent a layout of the project as an attachment but could not see a facility to do that. Thanks
Teddy

RE: Wastwater system design

I'm not familiar with the stormnet software, but I see a problem with adding pumps to an existing line.  If the existing pipe is gravity flow, placing pumps on that line and turning it into a force main is a bad idea.

Gravity sewers and forcemains have two very different construction standards and codes.
