Thanks in advance..

RE: Sw Certification

Talk to your VAR. I have been doing the same research. Out VAR has an education pass that includes the cost of the certification test for $2,695. But you only have 1 yr to get all the classes in and take the test.

RE: Sw Certification

It is my understanding that you have to take certain classes before you are able to take the CSWP test. Although this might not be correct.

RE: Sw Certification

There are no prerequisites to take the test.  All you need is a little $$$, and they'll let you fail as many times as you want.  Starting in October the CSWP exam will be held online through SolidWorks.  You will no longer have to go through your VAR, and you can take the test right at your desk.  There will be advanced certifications available for things like Sheet Metal, ect.  Check the links from Jeff and the Limey above for studying, and read through the Online Help to get familiar with the nomencalature.

I'd highly recommend igetit's study guide.  Their models bear a striking resemblance to the ones used in the test.

RE: Sw Certification

The help files will, um, help you. Also the tutorials. The test is pretty specific about the "how", as in how you created the model.
Make sure, too, that you know a little about everything in '07.

RE: Sw Certification

Rip,

Yep.  The exam breaks down into three sections.  100pts come from a written section (multiple choice/True-False).  These questions are basically pulled from the SW Online Help.  You know, the stuff that you read 100 years ago, so now you know how to do, but you forgot what it's called?  That stuff.  300pts come from a basic modeling section.  You'll have to capture some design intent and modify models, make drawings, etc.  The last 100pts come from an advanced topic.  (Sheet Metal, Lofts/Sweeps/ or Top-Down Design).

Reading through the Help couldn't hurt, you know?

RE: Sw Certification

You know before I went and took the exam I asked the same questions... I wound up going into it thinking that if I thought I really needed to study for it, then I probably did not know SW as well as I should to take the exam.. So after much thought, I felt asthough I knew enough and took the exam, and passed.. I think reviewing what you know is good, but I found it difficult to really "study" for the exam.

The answers. tongue

RE: Sw Certification

Seems like we get a lot of questions about resources for studying for the exam, and how to study for the exam.  I'd imagine those would be big hitters.

The way the i.get.it CSWP Exam Course was set up was good for me.  I found it very useful when studying for the Exam.
I would like to see how the new way of doing the Exam will be.

I also agree with Scott, I was told the same thing when I was studying and after passing it was a good point.
