Metric Electrical Enclosure

Metric Electrical Enclosure

Metric Electrical Enclosure

(OP)
Anyone know where I can buy an IP65 or 66 enclosure that has measurements of 1000mm(H) x 800mm(w) x 300mm(d)  in the united states? Anything I can find in the states is Nema with imperial dimensions.
Any help greatly appreciated!!!

RE: Metric Electrical Enclosure

We have gotten metric enclosures from this company, don't stock much in the US, but they have been helpful in the past with good service.

RE: Metric Electrical Enclosure

So it has to be exactly that size?  A bit bigger wouldn't work?  Even working in inches I never looked for an exact size, just one that would be at least large enough.

RE: Metric Electrical Enclosure

Rittal, Eurobec, Vynckeir, Haewa... almost all European enclosure manufacturers have sales forces and distributors in the US. They all make standard metric dimensioned enclosures, as does Hoffman and Hammond by the way, you just need to look in the right catalog sections. In looking at a couple of those mentioned above, they do catalog that exact dimension.

RE: Metric Electrical Enclosure

On another point to be aware, and it has been discussed many times in Eng-Tips, that a direct conversion from NEMA to IP is not that clear. One of the important aspects is that IP do not determine enclosures for outdoor use whereas NEMA do. IP66 is often thought of in Europe as suitable for outside use, but it isn't.
Maybe off topic from your own posting but something to note.

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Depends on the material it is made from.

I mean't as far as the actual standard is concerned. Simply using the IP class is not enough to determine inside or outside use, but I agree that the material is often key. Specialist knowledge is important to design the correct enclosure. NEMA does, however, at least differentiate between inside and outside.

RE: Metric Electrical Enclosure

I'm not arguing! A few years ago we had some awful results with A-B PanelView 550s which became unusable due to screen degradation caused by UV light. Expensive lesson leaned the hard way: the IP rating was suitable for the outdoors but not the material.
