Is Honda VGS similar to BMW AFS
Is Honda VGS similar to BMW AFS
(OP)
Hello,
Just wondering if anyone could please explain how does the Honda variable geared steering (VGS) differ in operation from the the epicyclic drive like device BMW (active front steering AFS, which is quite simple) has on the new 5 series..?
AFAIK the VGS was only offered on the S2000 spec-v only sold in Japan.
The VGS:

The AFS, e60 5 series:

It's hard to tell, but seems as though the VGS also uses a planetary gear train. Can someone confirm?
thanks in advance
Alex
