Slab Connection Using Dowel Bar Subs

Slab Connection Using Dowel Bar Subs

Slab Connection Using Dowel Bar Subs

(OP)
I need to detail connection of PT flat plate, 8" thick, to core wall which is constructed in advance of the surrounding slab.  When using dowel bar substitutes for such a connection, do you use one line of dowels at slab mid-depth, a line of dowels in top and bottom of slab, or what?

RE: Slab Connection Using Dowel Bar Subs

What is the function of the connection?  Gravity load?  Horizontal load?  Connections of slabs to previously constructed walls usually require more than just dowels.  Rebate in wall with bars to be bent out or ferrules cast in wall for screwing in bars, etc.  Or corbel on wall for slab seat.  Depends on your condition.  Need to consider shortening of slab.
