AISI 4130 Steel Alloy factor
AISI 4130 Steel Alloy factor
(OP)
Hi Guys!
I have a question regarding Alloy factor.
A customer has specified an alloy factor of 20 (minimum)
for AISI 4130 steel (& CE = 0.65%). I have seen an alloy factor formula for low alloy carburizing grade steel (But that works out to around 1). While, we understand the CE part we are not clear on the Alloy factor part. This is the first time we have come across such a spec.
Any help, suggestions etc. is sincerely appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation,

Do not confuse this method with the Carbon Equivilant calculations used for welding. While both are based on chemistry, they are not the same thing.
