Short circuit withstanding capacity of LV cables

Short circuit withstanding capacity of LV cables

(OP)
I do have one question in my mind.

while going through the specifications for cables i do not find short circuit withstand capacity mentioned in case of LV cables. But these are clearly specified in HV or MV cables.

My question is why there is no much importance to withstand capacity in case of LV cables?

RE: Short circuit withstanding capacity of LV cables

you are wrong. check with the manufacture of the cable. buss fuse also has it in thier guide book. check with them both too.

RE: Short circuit withstanding capacity of LV cables

I forgot okonite guide book also has it too.

RE: Short circuit withstanding capacity of LV cables

The SC withstand capability of any cable regarless of rated voltage is a function of the max. allowable temperature of the insulation material.

For instance, thermoplastic insulation is rated for a max. temperature up to 150 oC.
