Metallurgical PE Exam significant digits
Metallurgical PE Exam significant digits
(OP)
I am preparing to take the Metallurgical PE exam this October (2007). I am going through the TMS study guide and have noticed that the solutions do not use significant digits. You have to carry each set of calculations through your calculator (or write each number all the way out) to have your answers match the solution. Is the test also like this?

RE: Metallurgical PE Exam significant digits
For example;
you use your calculator for a problem and the display reads 95.321 N. The answer most likely on the exam would be 95 N.
Don't fret these kind of details, as you plug and chug through problems that require a calculator you will do fine.
For other information regarding the exam, use the search feature above and you will find other threads related to the Metallurgical PE exam preparation.
Good Luck
