Split row evaporator coil

Split row evaporator coil

Split row evaporator coil

(OP)
I have an application that uses a split row evaporator coil (6 high, 4 deep – 2x single pass). The capacity control 50/50 of the evaporator coil is no monger needed and it would be much easier if I have 1 TEV and liquid distributor instead of 2TEV and 2 Distributors. Will it make any difference in performance if I replace the 2 TEV with a single one?
I can replace the slit row coil with a coil that has all 12 inlets at the side air out. Will that improve performance of the evaporator coil?

RE: Split row evaporator coil

Don't really know the answer to your coil/TXV question, but are there dual curcuits going to dual compressors?  If so, I don't think I would combine them.

RE: Split row evaporator coil

I believe I would replace the two selenoids with one that feeds both TXVS and leave every thing as is, that way you wouldn't have to concern yourself a lot of extra work.

Fair point. I am also, at the same time, trying to increase the capacity of the system and since the split row coil does not have the best distribution, I was wondering if the same size non-split row coil will be better to what I have. BTW this is a single compressor system.
