Centre of gravity

Centre of gravity

(OP)
Hi,

I am trying to find the centre of gravity on a model I have created. I used to do it in V18 and it used to display a point but I can't figure out how to do it in NX4.

Any help appreciated

RE: Centre of gravity

Analysis>Mass Properties

The bar you getin in the top right corner has a drop down of display annotation (defalt) or create Principal axes.
Make sure you change the drop down to the second one and it's pressed down.  Select your solid and it'll create a csys in the position of the centre of mass if you change the measurment type to mass.
You can use this csys to re-position your wcs to and create a point if that's what you need.

Hope that helps,

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately it's not creating a csys for me? If I change the pull down menu to mass it gives me a mass value but no csys :(

If you choose to save the measurement, it will create the centroid (center of gravity) for you in the form of a point.  This measurement will be shown in the Part Navigator and you can access information from it quite easily.  It will update as your part changes if you place it at the end of your tree.

If you have the Documentation installed, just look over the Measure Body command in there.  It should explain the more commonly used features of the command.
