Mid engine gear linkage
Mid engine gear linkage
(OP)
Hi,
I've been scratching my head for a couple days about gear linkages. I'm wanting to put a saab 2.3T engine in something (morris minor probably) but I'd rather put it behind the front seats, seems a better place that out front:)
Can anyone point me to pictures of linkage systems I can get some inspiration from? I'm think about a cable system with rotating joints, I'f got a diagram but don't know how to post it.
Any advise would be welcome
Cheers Jim

RE: Mid engine gear linkage
You may want to have a look at the website of Beardmore Brothers Racing ( www.beardmorebros.co.uk ) for some ideas on what can be done with a Morris Minor Body and some innovative ideas.
I am sure others will post comments on the shift linkages.
Pete.

Yeah I've had some correspondences with John Beardmore in the past. I've looked at my Saab 93's 'box change mechanism, its not very straight forward! Pushes the rod in and out and all sorts. I think I might have to retain part of the change system and activate the original gear level (which would be in the boot) with hydraulics or something.... sounds simple!

My house sale has just fallen through so I'm going to have to wait a bit longer, probably banned modifying my the time I get round to it!
