Electronic mains electricty meter possible faults UK.........

Electronic mains electricty meter possible faults UK.........

Electronic mains electricty meter possible faults UK.........

(OP)
Hope it is appropriate to post this here......

I'm trying to gather information as to possible faults, regarding the above, so I am better prepared for a looming problem.

The meter is an Ampy Automation UK device, type 5196A, if that helps. Single phase 240v.

According to the meter our consumption has increased six-fold year on year, with no change in habits or appliances.

We are also seeing an increase in the number of temporary powercuts to the supply.

Anyone know of known or possible faults, that may go some way to explaining this?

Cheers, John.

RE: Electronic mains electricty meter possible faults UK.........

If you have reasonable evidence that your actual energy consumption has not increased and that the consumption indicated by the meter has dramatically increased from the time the meter was replaced you have reasonable grounds to request a meter calibration. The DNO will be reluctant because it is unlikely that the meter is at fault and you will need to have some solid evidence before requesting this. Increase in your bills does not equate to increase in energy consumption, just increase in the tariff you are paying. Do not confuse the two.
