Mechanical Test

hi guys

If carbon steel Pipe(EFW)would be required PWHT after Welding.
When would be tested mechanical test(T.S, Y.S, E.L, Hardness)

Thickness of Carbon steel pipe is 12.7mm with longitudinal welding seam.

Is it no problem that if mechanical test would be tested before PWHT.

thank

RE: Mechanical Test

The mechanical tests are usually performed on the plate material prior to pipe fabrication. After welding, PWHT and pressure testing and/or NDT would be performed in accordance with the ASTM/ASME specification for fusion welded pipe.

Review the various ASTM/ASME specifications for seam welded pipe;

ASTM A (or ASME SA) 671
ASTM A (or ASME SA) 691

RE: Mechanical Test

One addition to the above post, after welding and PWHT, specific mechanical testing is required; tension and transverse weld bend testing.

Again, review the necessary ASTM/ASME specifications for welded pipe.
