I've been working on an assembly that has multiple pivoting parts.  Liken this to a folding chair.

Chair is facing right.....assembly Front view is looking into the right side of chair.

I've mated all parts via their pivot points either by Temporary Axis or inserted reference axis
and other appropriate planes, etc.
There is a Limit mate controlling the MAX/MIN angles between the "seat" of the chair and the Right Plane of the a'y.

In simple terms the MAX was set to 90 deg(starting pos), the MIN set to 9 deg (near vertical) i.e., it is only allowed to rotate 81 degrees total.

When I grab the back of the "seat" and rotate it downwards, the corresponding parts (legs and uprights) move as desired; however, more likely than not some of the parts go onto the other side of an imaginary vertical line and then everything just locks up.

This does not always happen, but seems to be at the whim of SW.

It takes quite a bit of trial and error to find a point on some part that can be used to get the assemby back to the correct starting position. ("Seat" at 90 deg)

(The way this thing acts reminds me of an old Peanuts cartoon where Snoopy has an altercation with a folding lawnchair.)

Why is it that the MAX and MIN Limits  cannot be set to absolute values so that the parts don't flip over the vertical centerline??

Also, why is "Undo" not available to correct the situation?


Here is an instance of something similar...Did this ever get resolved?

Yeah, that drives me nuts, too.  Not just angle limits, but distance limits, too, when pivoting stuff.  I've not found a fix, but hitting Undo normally works fine for me, since I use the Move command to move things around.
