Toolbox / PDM Glitch

Toolbox / PDM Glitch

Toolbox / PDM Glitch

(OP)
I'm having issues when "Checking Out," assemblies in PDM Works.  When the assembly includes a toolbox part, other users get messages that the toolbox parts are being modified, even though they are not.  The other user cannot insert them into assemblies.

RE: Toolbox / PDM Glitch

We do not use Toolbox parts, this is a guess on my part.
Try having the administrator put the Toolbox parts in a write protected folder in PDM. Most of the time Toolbox parts are not under revision control.

RE: Toolbox / PDM Glitch

What are your toolbox settings?  Is each client creating a local copy of the toolbox parts?  If not, that could be the cause of the problem.

RE: Toolbox / PDM Glitch

Make sure your TB parts are not being revision managed. If they are that's probably the problem. You don't need your TB parts to be Revision managed.

Thanks for the help, I believe I was able to correct the problem by setting the directory in which all of the toolbox parts are located as read only, and applying it to all of the sub folders and their contents.

RE: Toolbox / PDM Glitch

Setting toolbox folders to read only is recommended practice from SolidWorks.
