Microsoft Woird English

I am at the point of throwing this machine at the wall. I have set language settings on every application, every format in my Word documents etc. To English UK. Each time I am asked do I want English UK as my default settings I tick yes. Yet press the space bar it is back to English US

How do I remove English US completely from my machine? I never ever want to see English US.

woops: woird is neither English US nor English UK

I have set regional/language and all other setting to English UK. But I find it is practically impossible to maintain any other version of English than English US. Go for a coffee and it has put itself back to English US.  It is Microsoft attempt to convert the world to English US.

I am convinced the only solution is to completely disable English US.

RE: Microsoft Woird English

Nuthin else I can offer, except that we had a computer set to dual mode English and Chinese, and I had a bitch of a time disabling the Chinese option, so it's more likely that MS is simply incompetent at that.

RE: Microsoft Woird English

Try opening a new document. Go to Tools|Language - set to English (UK). Uncheck 'Detect language automatically'. Then click the 'Default' button and Confirm. Close the document. Close Word.

When you re-open word you should now have English(UK) as your default spellcheck language. The language used for spellcheck is stored in the document template (by default it's normal.dot). The quickest test is to type in 'colour color' and see which gets underlined in red!

Good Luck
