How to delete views in ".idw"

How to delete views in ".idw"

I want to delete the base view and cross-section view and just keep the projected view in a ".idw" Inventor drawing... But when I right-click either the base or cross-section view and click "delete", all views go away... How can I keep the projected view and delete the other 2 views??

RE: How to delete views in ".idw"

The typical way of doing this in 11 is to just drag the base view off of the sheet and position the projected view where you want it. When you print, only the view on the sheet will print out.

Wow... Is that really the way to do something like this??... I had assumed there was a more elegant, and simple way to do this... But thanks, I'll give it a try...

RE: How to delete views in ".idw"

so simple you will cry.

Select the view you want to delete. It will ask you if you want to delete the other views. There is a "double carrot" symbol in the delete dialog box, this will expand the dialog box. Just click where it says "yes" for the views you do NOT want to delete and it will change them to "no".

aardvarkdw... That suggestion is not working for me... I select the view I want to delete, right-click, and select "delete"... I only get a confirm window asking if I want to delete that view with an "OK" or "Cancel" button... If I click "OK" the other connected views go away also... I'm using Inventor release 11...

In the same dialog box there will be a square button with the double carrot symbol (>>) in it. Select this and the dialog box will expand to show the dependent views and whether or not they are set to delete.

No "double carrot" (>>) that I see... It's just a small window asking to confirm "delete" of the view...

RE: How to delete views in ".idw"

If the previous link doesn't work (I can't get it to work, the server may be down), try this one. I am using IV11 SP3 and this is what I get when I follow the same steps you described.

Neither link is working...
I am using Inventor Professional 11, SP3...

RE: How to delete views in ".idw"

I don't remember exactly how 11 worked but I do know in 2008 you need to click on the options tab and select yes or no under the delete tab.

RE: How to delete views in ".idw"

Okay one last time. Look for the square button on the right hand side of the dialog box. This button must be pressed before the lower half of the dialog box will be visible.

Again this is a direct screen shot of Inventor 11 SP3.

aardvarkdw... Sorry but the "jpeg" file you linked is not a valid jpeg according to Paint Shop Pro...
