pv thickness

(OP)
hi,
i am new in pressure vessel designing. can anyone help me in defining that what parameters are considered in selecting pv thickness. is there any asme section8 code for selection of thickness.

RE: pv thickness

zafary;
The thickness required for pressure vessels is based on rules in ASME B&PV Code, Section VIII, Div 1 Part UG. Since Div 1 is considered "design by rule", there are formula's for this.

Given a starting pressure and temperature for the vessel, the designer (you) needs to select the optimum material(s) based on service environment, cost and availability of material.

I would recommend you either work with someone that is experienced in pressure vessel design or hire this out and work closely with the organization to learn from expierence.
I would also invest in several books regarding pressure vessel design and purchase one of the CASTI books regarding ASME Section VIII, Div 1.
