Holes coming out as cylinders?

Holes coming out as cylinders?

Holes coming out as cylinders?

(OP)
creating some holes in my part body.  Catia is generating cylinders were the holes should be.  The part body was created by using "closesurface". also the plane that i'm creating the holes on is an uneven surface.

I also tried creating the holes with boolean operations, this also didn't work.  What is my problem here?

RE: Holes coming out as cylinders?

If I understand correctly, you had a solid, were using the 'hole' command but the holes were coming out as solid cylinders instead of cylindrical holes?  I've seen this before and it was because I wasn't modeling in the corect body.  If you create a 'hole' in a body that has no other geometry in it, it will create a solid cylinder.  You should be able to use a boolean to remove the cylinders from your solid body though, so I'm stumped as to why it wouldn't let you.  My recommendation would be to double check that you are modeling in the correct body.

Try this to see if it replicates what you were seeing.  Create a new part and create a pad of any size and shape in the default Partbody.  Create a new body (Body.2) and set it as your 'in work object'.  Select the 'hole' command and select any face of your pad to put the hole on.  Make the hole any size and depth.  After completing the hole command, hide your original pad and you should see a solid cylinder despite having 'hole.1' under 'Body.2' in your specification tree.  Is this what you were seeing in your original post?  You should be able to do a Boolean remove from the default Partbody though.

Hope this helps.
Bob
