8 parallel processor in ansys v 11

Hi,

can anyone advise me how to force ansys 11 to use 8 processors ?

any advice is appreciated, please.

Regards,

RE: 8 parallel processor in ansys v 11

Launch from a command prompt and issue the '-np' argument set equal to 8.  You can do this from the Ansys launcher as well if running interactively.  Remember that V11 requires special licensing to use more than two processors which is unfortunate.

RE: 8 parallel processor in ansys v 11

Assuming you have the correct multiprocessor licensing:
If you're using Ansys/Workbench 11.0, in simulation, click tools/solve process settings/advanced. You can set the number of processors available to the program and memory settings, which seem to have a huge impact on performance.

Not every ANSYS process will take advantage of multiple processors. When running large problems on my DELL 690, meshing will only grab one. Solver uses all 8.
