Detail view of Breakout view

Detail view of Breakout view

Detail view of Breakout view

(OP)
I have a part that has an undercut, and i have represented this by using a broken view, but when i try to insert a detailed view of the broken section, the detail view reverts to "unbroken"

Is there any way to insert a detail view from a breakout view, and maintain the view as broken?

hope that makes sense,
thanks in advance

RE: Detail view of Breakout view

The detail view icon is on a flyout toolbar (you can expand it) with 3 other icons.  One of these icons is the 'Quick Detail View' icon.  Using this one will keep the detail view as a broken, just like it's parent view.  I'm not sure if there are any other differences between this detail view and the normal detail view.

Hope this helps.

Thank you - i didnt consider that there would be a difference between detail and quick detail views.

On a related note does anyone know the best way to generate a dimension that doesnt extend back to the other point.

for example, i am currently drawing a cylindrical fitting that has an under cut at the end. I am trying to dimension the diameter of the cut, and the detail view shows this area.

When i try dimensioning the diameter it is "scaled up" and goes across the whole page!

RE: Detail view of Breakout view

I think you need to right click while you are still actively in the dimensioning mode, and click the "half dimension" mode.  Maybe I'm not understanding correctly, but this sounds familiar...

RE: Detail view of Breakout view

I use quick detail view. The quick detail view is from the drawing view. Detail  view is from 3D modle I think. Sometimes the deatil view can not update as mother view updated. Strange. But when I used quick detail view, there is no problem at all.
