Wake frequency calculation

Wake frequency calculation

Wake frequency calculation

(OP)

Hi,

I am using WFClac programme to compute wake frequencies of thermowells.

Everything works well except I cannot input `316L' as a material.

Any suggestions?

RE: Wake frequency calculation

Grind the calculation by hand.  Several good sources on the net will come up by Google.

I have a classical textbook on this, damn if I can find it right now.

Checking my spreadsheet comparing type 316 against type 316L, I show that the stress values differ and modulus of elasticity are the same.  The stress values for 316L will limit the maximum temperature below 700 degree F where the stress value begins avalanching downward.  This is also true for type 304L.  See if the program accepts 304L as the results should be nearly the same as for 316L.  Check the ASME B&PV Code Section II Materials Part D for properties.

I would be glad to email my spreadsheet if you want to play with it a bit, like checking the values against the 2007 Part D properties.

RE: Wake frequency calculation

the wake frequency is independent of the material of construction, the natural frequency not, but the difference between 316 and 316L as regards the elastic properties is miniscule

for what its worth

Thank you for the great help, I now have a result.
