On ASME UG-37, openings in pressure vessel

(OP)
For openings on a torispherical head of a Pressure Vessel as UG-37, how should I calculate the reinforcement? Which value applies for "D": the inside shell diameter or the inside spherical diameter of the head?

Regards

RE: On ASME UG-37, openings in pressure vessel

jorgefherrero, you would use the inside skirt diameter, corroded as applicable, for D, but see UG-37(b), definition of "tr" (a) and 1-4(d).

Regards,

Mike

RE: On ASME UG-37, openings in pressure vessel

if the outside limits of reinforcement lies entirely within the spherical portion of the head, you can use the spherical radius with any allowance for corrosion added.
