can hole wizard parameters change per config?

can hole wizard parameters change per config?

can hole wizard parameters change per config?

(OP)
Hi there -- is it possible to alter any of the hole wizard "Type" settings per config? I was hoping to fill out a design table with different NPT diams and have the wizard feature generate the NPT geometry, but seems like the hole wizard doesn't want to put itself into the design table, and for that matter it can't even be changed manually between configs... I'm wondering if I'll have to just do it with a regular cut.

I'm also wondering if there's a list of all the generic parameter names for each feature, like D1 in an extrude is the extrustion distance, D2 in a pattern does what, etc... anyone know?

Thanks for any input!

RE: can hole wizard parameters change per config?

First question: I've never been able to do that either.  Probably a good ER.

Second question: I've never seen a list of that sort.  If you did try to make one I wouldn't be extremely confident about its consistency either.  It's too easy to change the name of a dimension.

RE: can hole wizard parameters change per config?

Q1 ... Can you wait for SW2008? (HW size, not type)

Q2 ... Dimension parameters/names are alloted sequentially as features are created. I don't believe a preference exists for feature elements.

cheers

ahhh, 2008 may bring it eh?... oh well, that's cool -- I'm sort of at the point now where I can model anything I want with a variety of methods, I'm just trying to learn all the little uncommon corners of the software for the occasional time-saver...

I was initially confused by your second answer, but then I played around and discovered how to rename the parameter (e.g. D1, D2) for those features... had I of known that before posting I probably wouldn't have asked Q2 :) so I'm clear now.

Thanks guys!

RE: can hole wizard parameters change per config?

If you are renaming the dimensions, rename them to something logical like, ShaftLength@sketch1, O-ringWidth@ ...
That way, when they are populated into a DT or an equation, it will be much easier to understand.

cheers
