Difference between Shunt placements
Difference between Shunt placements
(OP)
Hi All,
On page 33 of the manual found at this link:
http ://www.lie bert.com/a ssets/prod ucts/engli sh/product s/dcstms/p wrtame/60H z/usersman /acrobat/u m5c05d.pdf
it talks about how the shunt can be connected. What is the difference between having the shunt on the battery side and the shunt on the ground side?
Thanks.

RE: Difference between Shunt placements
If a current proportional signal is used and connected to an amplifier, it is always nicer to work close to ground than having everything referred to the hot potential.
If you use the shunt to feed an instrument at some distance, it is a lot less critical with the fusing if the shunt is a ground level.
