SSR For DC control

SSR For DC control

SSR For DC control

(OP)
Hello

I want to control a DC motor with an SSR.  I had a Crydon D1D20 and it failed close.  Need to work at about 20 Hz (On/off about 40 times per second).
Output - 30 VDC @ 5 Amp Max  (1 hp dc motor)
Input - 5 - 10 VDC input.

Was thinking about a power-IO relay

RE: SSR For DC control

Tough service for the relay.

Make sure you heatsink it well.  Make sure you include a diode across it's output.  Make sure you get an over rated SSR, 3 or 4x the current.

Is there a possible better way to do this?

RE: SSR For DC control

30V @ 5A is 150W. 1 HP is generally accepted to be 746W. Either your motor isn't a 1 HP machine or your numbers are way off.
