Diesel Engine Drives horizontal pump

Diesel Engine Drives horizontal pump

Diesel Engine Drives horizontal pump

(OP)
I have diesel engine that drives a horizontal pump cooling water, The old engine and base will be replaced, Can I hard mount the new diesel engine? I'm told this is possible, That it could reduce seal leaks from the diesel vibration on rubber pads, My main concern though is breaking motor mounts and in my mind the list goes on....Can you hard mount a diesel engine?

RE: Diesel Engine Drives horizontal pump

Sure, you can hard mount a Diesel, if you don't mind it beating the crap out of whatever you mount it to.

There should be no problem bolting the engine onto the base plate so long as it is properly mounted, however you will need a good flexible coupling installed in accordance with the manufacturers instructions between the engine and the pump - I would recommend a Fenner Dodge type which will dampen out the engine harmonics and allow for any slight misalignment.

RE: Diesel Engine Drives horizontal pump

To maintain coupling alignment you should hard mount both the engine and pump to the new baseplate.  The baseplate should be mounted on rubber vibration dampeners. Flexible engine fuel pipes and pipeline bellows should also be used. Be careful to check if pipeline supports are required.

RE: Diesel Engine Drives horizontal pump

Off course that you can bolt engine to basement. In that case  I strongly recommend you to use flexible coupling specially rubber coupling in this case same as most diesel driven fire water pump.

RE: Diesel Engine Drives horizontal pump

What kind of installation are you talking about.  I bolt them to a skid or, if no skid, to a concrete foundation.  No rubber pads, Cielcoat 648 Epoxy grout.
