Schematic relationships explode !?

Schematic relationships explode !?

Schematic relationships explode !?

(OP)
I'm trying to create a master plumbing and instrumentation diagram for our dyno room and then create separate sheets of each system (i.e. compressed air, data acq, CNG supply, etc...); which are on their own layer.  I can't figure out how to get one subsystem to show up on another sheet.  If I copy and paste the schematic explodes and looks nothing like the original.

I am a noob to 2D, coming from ProE training and don't really understand the program functionality yet.

RE: Schematic relationships explode !?

When you try the copy & paste are you basically hiding the layers you aren't interested in?

Are you using block functionality, or drawing in model view or just straight on the drawing sheet?

I am constructing the schematic on the first drawing sheet not on the 2D model because I am roughing in the systems over top of a large architectural drawing (which I only want a small section of to show up in the first drawing with all subsystems and components).  I am using block functionality and "smart" connectors.  I've tried playing with layer visibility options but perhaps it's not working because my subsystems are on a drawing sheet and not the 2D model sheet?

This is probably a "hack" way to do it but I think I've solved the problem.  I simply created a block containing all the components of each subsystem, then I can place it anywhere and the geometry stays the same.

I'll figure out this 2D thing yet.  Thanks for the swift response, Kenat.

RE: Schematic relationships explode !?

Glad you found a way ahead.  Based on your answers I didn't have any bright ideas!

I've never used layers much (don't have an Auto CAD background) and have had issues with them before, I've posted questions on it before here.

When it comes to 2D in Solid Edge I've often used the hack approach, however some of the guys on this site really know their stuff and may have a better solution.

It's funny, in my office I'm one of the 'Solid Edge Experts' compared to some of the guys on here I know nothing!

I learnt Pro E same time as SE, I had classes for Pro E self taught/learnt SE from others.  I find SE a lot easier to use.
