Flat slab analysis
Flat slab analysis
(OP)
Hi,
For flat slabs is a 2D frame analysis or a finite element model more appropriate for analysis? I mean which would most engineers go for.
Any discussion/suggestion regarding how to model flat slabs along with a combination of columns and load bearing walls would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

RE: Flat slab analysis
For advanced layouts of slab (non-rectangular plans, vertically and horizontally offsetting columns, strange wall layouts) you have to look at using other ways to analyze slabs like FE models, yield line analysis, or the strip method. But 2 way concrete slabs are not really my cup of tea.
