I am looking for a comprehensive valve seat materials chart inclusive of Delren, Nylon 12 , Nylon 6, Devlon , PEEK, Vitoin etc.

RE: Need a comprehensive specifications chart for valve seat materials

Flytyer4920,

You are probably looking for a comparison of valve seat soft sealing materials.

Please note that some of the materials you specify are trade names, eg. chemical compositions produced by specific producers with protected brand names. These can often also be found as equal or similar compositions, with other names produced by others. Anyway: variations within the same composition 'name' will to give variations in seat sealing properties.

Typical example is the commonly used EPDM where the EPDMs temperature limits/resistance (up and down), hardness, abrasive and chemical properties are in fact dependent on how you produce the EPDM (heat, pressure, mixture, time etc when 'baking' the material.

A suggestion would be to seek out a specific valve producer, or several, with valve types and pressure classes suited to your application.

Most of the larger valve producers with a varied supply will advice you on plus and minus on different types of sealing materials, according to detailed application. The whole valve construction must be considered (included sealing). Some offer online 'valve selection' based on application input.

Thanks for your response.  I have checked various valve manufacturers for seat material data and as stated it does vary .   I was looking for a comprehensive general list of specifications.

Jim Casey-   Thanks much .  Exactly what I needed .

P.S. You mentioned a technical paper TP12D in another thread related to Ball valve seat failures ?   I have not been able to find a vendor who can provide this data.  Can you suggest on or route a zip file with this information?

Thanks again.

RE: Need a comprehensive specifications chart for valve seat materials

TP-12D is a Worcester technical paper.  All Worcester distributors are supposed to have at least a copy of all the Worcester Technical papers on CD.  Assault your local worcester distributor and if he does not have it, I am sure the factory will be able to get him one.  Worcester is a Flowserve company. Flowserve's website lists "Sales Contacts" by geographical location.
