Drawing notes @ UL files?

Drawing notes @ UL files?

Drawing notes @ UL files?

(OP)
Some engineers here have begun adding notes to certain component drawings to indicate that the UL report file (no number given) must be reviewed if the design is changed.  The intent is to prevent mismatches between the product configuration being manufactured, and that registered with UL.  From the ASME Y14 perspective, this seems like a procedural issue that doesn't belong on the engineering drawing.

Has anyone seen a similar approach used?  How effective was it?  How do most companies handle configuration management with respect to the UL report file for a product?

RE: Drawing notes @ UL files?

Any change in critical components (esp. safety-related) must generate a file review.

That tracking should be done by your code compliance engineer in conjunction with the design engineers. The notes are interesting and perhaps helpful, but strictly speaking, do not belong on the drawing.
