Concrete Mix for Trash Dumping Station

Concrete Mix for Trash Dumping Station

Concrete Mix for Trash Dumping Station

(OP)
We are designing foundations and a slab for a trash dumping station.  Any ideas on a mix design or topping for durablity for this?  There will be garbage trucks and a front end loader that will load the trash in rail cars.

RE: Concrete Mix for Trash Dumping Station

We used AnvilTop for abrasion resistance and impact. This, however, may depend upon how busy the facility is and how long it is expected to last. What has the Owner's experience been with other facilities of this type?

RE: Concrete Mix for Trash Dumping Station

Few things you may need in your mix-
-Good air void system.
-Calcium nitrite corrosion inhibitor.
-Slag in the mix.
-Sulfate resistant cement.
-Non reactive aggregates to eliminate ASR.
-May consider using epoxy coated rebars.
-specify proper curing to reduce shrinkage cracking.

Trash can have just about anything it in and so you need to design for items that could be either caustic or acidic.

For the front end loader, you need toughness of the surface.  Suggest steel fibre concrete is the best available way of achieving this.  Mining companies use steel fibre concrete in workshop floors where they service big tracked machines.
