FEA Tubesheet

FEA Tubesheet

FEA Tubesheet

(OP)
I am wondering what program is most used to perform a FEA on a fixed shell and tube tubesheet.  My company is debating the idea of implementing some new software and I would like to get some trial versions to test.  We design to ASME section VIII division 1.

RE: FEA Tubesheet

Bone...

I assume that you are aware that TEMA contains an structural analysis methodology of tubesheets and that most HXs that are specified are to follow this.

I would look for software that incorporates the TEMA methodology.

My opinion only

RE: FEA Tubesheet

If you are looking for FEA software for fixed tubesheet then look no further than FE-Pipe.  It has the template for it.   If you're looking for a general FEA package, the one I recommend is ANSYS.

However, why do you need FEA when there is closed form solutions in the Code?  You have the meet the Code requirement in UHX anyway.  I suppose you can pick the hard way and choose to design by analysis.
